It would be easier to answer this way. . . There are many Chinese people in the Philippines, mainly from Xiamen (Amoy). Chinese people from China would ofcourse be very similar to Chinese people in the Philippines. Philippines is a little bit on the diversed side. There are Filipinos who are closely similar to Spanish. Few are Americanized. The rest of the population, which I would just assume is atleast 30%, were descendants (2nd generation upto 10th, or even more) of Chinese sailors/traiders.
The Chinese traders had been doing business in the Islands centuries before the Spaniards came. China did not mean to conquer the Islands, unlike the ambitious Europeans, just FYI.
To summarize : About 30%, or maybe more, of the population of the Philippines is tightly and strictly connected to the Chinese traditions. Thus, all major cities in the Philippines have Chinese-style businesses, establishments, temples, schools.
