I have a 1990 escort lx so there shouldn't be any difference. If you look at the crankshaft or (dampner) pulley you should see a small groove in the front edge which almost looks like it's been notched with a hack saw. This mark should line up with the top dead center marking on the timing belt cover .then you need to set the camshaft marker which is a small point inside on of the holes on the camshaft timimg pulley. This point needs to line up with a small dimple or what looks like a punch marked on the head behind the pulley. Once these two marks are positioned correctly you should be ready to install the timimg belt. but be sure to check that your distributor rotor is set on the #1 position if not you will have to remove your distributor and rotate it a half turn and reinstall it.
"How to set timing on 1991 ford escort lx 1.9?"
The timing marks are on the timing cover for the crank pulley, and on the cyl head for the cam ...
There are no timing marks. The timing is controlled by the PCM. Power control module. It is not possible to set the timing with a timing gun.
There is no suck thing as a timing sensor. The timing marks for a escort are not on the cams you must use a straight edge.
Ford Escorts from 91 to present don't have timing marks because the timing is controlled by the engine computer.
It has no timing marks because the ignition timing is set by the computer and isn't adjustable.
May be computer controlled and not adjustable
i need to find timing on my 2.0 zx2 z tech eng
It is clockwise as you are facing the front of the engine from the right fender.
first we need know if its the sohc or the dohc engine..
The cover on the passenger side of the motor has long lines on it, those are your timing marks. Hold the timing gun above them and look directly down to the crankshaft pully.
Timing belt.
