behind timing cover on front of engine if its a 2.0 ltr ohc
its been awhile all i know it runs the same as a Oldsmobile same motor it run conter clock wise
THERE ARE SMALL HOLES IN THE TIMING GEARS THAT LINE UP WITH MARKS ON THE FRONT OF THE HEAD. When the crank pulley is at TDC on the compression stroke, 'E' & 'I' on the camshaft sprockets should be at 12 o'clock.

Most likely computer controlled and not adjustable
Ususally push rod style engines do not use timing belts. Even some modern OHC engines do not use timing belts but instead use a timing chain. An example is the 2003 & up Honda 4 cylinder.
It is a chain in a 93, I would think it would be in a 92 as well.

gm ohc 2.0 timing marksHi I just finished a cylinder head and timing belt on a 1993 Sunbird 2.0 sohc the camshaft sprocket should have a line at the front face of it which should be at about 12:00 and line up with the notch in the back plate behind the belt and gears also the crank sprocket should have a u shaped notch or dot which lines up with a notch at 6:00 position and the water pump does not matter where is you
Camsaft Carrier cover bolts should be torqued to 72 Inch Pounds. That is for both the OHC and OHV engine. I looked this up in the manual to double check.
