i just did a timing belt change on 1991 crx. according to my manual the tensioner bolt should be 33 foot pound or about 400 inch-lbs torque.make sure you use a six pointed 14mm socketso you won't round out the bolt head. since your a/c mount bolts are stationary they should be tightened about two hundred inch pound; your a/c belt should have 1/8 to 1/4 inch detent on the longest part of the belt and then tighten the nut on the pulley then tighten the adjustment screw. hope this help

How do you replace the belt tensioner on a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L 4WD?

REMOVAL WARNING: BECAUSE OF HIGH SPRING PRESSURE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DISASSEMBLE AUTOMATIC TENSIONER. UNIT IS SERVICED AS AN ASSEMBLY (EXCEPT FOR PULLEY). (1) Remove accessory drive belt. (Refer to 7 - COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - REMOVAL). (2) Disconnect wiring and secondary cable from ignition coil. (3) Remove ignition coil from coil mounting bracket (two bolts). Do not remove coil mounting bracket from cylinder head. (4) Remove tensioner assembly from mounting bracket (one nut) (Fig. 4) (5) Remove pulley bolt. Remove pulley from tensioner. INSTALLATION (1) Install pulley and pulley bolt to tensioner. Tighten bolt to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.) torque. (2) Install tensioner assembly to mounting bracket. An indexing tab is located on back of tensioner. Align this tab to slot in mounting bracket. Tighten nut to 67 N·m (50 ft. lbs.) torque. (3) Connect all wiring to ignition coil. CAUTION: To prevent damage to coil case, coil mounting bolts must be torqued. (4) Install coil to coil bracket. If nuts and bolts are used to secure coil to coil bracket, tighten to 11 N·m (100 in. lbs.) torque. If coil mounting bracket has been tapped for coil mounting bolts, tighten bolts to 5 N·m (50 in. lbs.) torque. (5) Install drive belt. (Refer to 7 - COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION). (6) Check belt indexing marks (Fig. 4).

How do you set the timing on 2002 Kia Rio?

This is the procedure for installing the timing belt, and contains the info on where all marks need to be set for proper timing: Install : 1.Install tensioner pulley 2.Pull tensioner pulley to its furthest point and tighten lock bolt. 3.Check that timing mark on timing belt pulley is aligned with timing mark on engine http://msw.kiausa.com/data/manual/sh...G/lc3b620a.gif 4.Check that "I" mark on intake camshaft pulley is aligned with mark on seal plate and "E" mark on exhaust camshaft pulley is aligned with mark on seal plate. http://msw.kiausa.com/data/manual/sh...G/lc3b620b.gif 5.Install timing belt onto timing belt pulley first, then idler pulley, exhaust camshaft pulley, intake camshaft pulley, and tensioner pulley in that order. 6.Check that there is no looseness in belt between idler pulley and exhaust camshaft pulley or between intake and exhaust camshaft pulleys. 7.Loosen tensioner pulley lock bolt and allow tensioner spring to apply tension to timing belt. 8.Tighten tensioner pulley lock bolt to specified torque. Tightening torque:28~38 lb-ft (38~51 N

How do you adjust the idle pulley on a 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager?

== # Loosen the idler pulley lock nut # Turn the adjusting screw to lower the idler pulley # Remove A/C belt. == # Install A/C belt over pulleys. # Apply a snug torque to the idler pulley lock nut. # Turn adjusting screw until proper belt tension is obtained. # Tighten idler pulley lock nut to 54 N·m (40 ft. lbs) == The Poly-V generator/power steering pump belt is provided with a dynamic tensioner. == WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW DRIVE BELT TENSIONER TO SNAP BACK, AS DAMAGE TO TENSIONER AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY COULD RESULT. # Remove air conditioning belt. Refer to procedure in this section. # Apply a force in a clockwise direction to the tensioner pulley bolt # Remove belt. == # Install belt over all pulleys, except for the tensioner pulley. Refer to for belt routing. # Apply a force in a clockwise direction to the tensioner pulley bolt # While holding tensioner, position belt over tensioner pulley. # Slowly release force on tensioner. # Verify belt is properly routed and engaged on all pulleys.

How do you change the serpentine belt in your 2002 Hyundai xg350?

There are two belts - one to drive the power steering pump near the firewall and the other to drive the alternator and A/C compressor. Each belt has a tensioner. To change, raise front passenger side of car and put on jackstand. Remove wheel/tire and remove splash shield which will give access to the belts and tensioners. Loosen mounting bolts in the center of tensioners, then loosen the tensioner adjustment bolts which can be reached from the bottom of the tensioner. Remove belts, put new ones on and re-tighten the tensioner adjustment bolts. Then re-tighten the tensioner mount bolts to torque spec. All torque specs can be found in the freely available maintenance data available from Hyundai at www.hmaservice.com.

Why does the tensioner bolt keep breaking on my 2001 Ford Escort ZX?

An accessory or idler pulley is frozen or in very bad shape and is snapping the tensioner and bolt from all the torque being applied to it. Check all your pulleys when you have it off. They should rotate freely.
