Since the Earth is spherical (shaped like a ball), you can reach any country

you're headed for by going either east or west from the Prime Meridian. The

only thing is that one direction or the other is always the shorter trip.

All of North America and South America are closer to the Prime Meridian going

west from it, a big part of the reason why the part of the world they're in is

called the "Western Hemisphere".

To reach any country in North America or South America from the Prime Meridian,

you'd want to head out towards the west. A few examples include the US, Belize,

Suriname, French Guiana, and Martinique.
