Chilton's says to remove hoses from the 2 connectors inside engine compartment and remove the dash panel and lower panel. Then reach inside and pull the heater core out.

Warped rotor is the most likely cause.
My 1992 E150 has a 35 gallon tank so I'm guessing your E150 is the same even though it is only one year newer than mine.
On my 2000 E150 with 4.6L engine, the PCV valve fits in a rubber grommet in the center of the valve cover, with an insulated line running to the intake manifold.
check the rotors they could be warped
