You could have a lose wire in the stering column.

Not typically. answer yes the hazard lights stop turn sinals from working there are only 2 elements in the bulb one for stop and one for turn hazars use same eement as turns signals it is for that reason that it is illegal in most states to actually drive with your hazards working they are supposed to be used only when stopped
1996 Pontiac Sunfire Horn doesn't work can hear relay click and Rear Hazards don't work but turn signals do Why?
There are a number of reasons that your signals might not be working. First off, I would check your fuses to make sure none of them are blown; next, check your bulbs. If those are all okay it might be your turn signal relay--in many car models these are located around the fuse panel somewhere, although they may not be immediately visible--also check to see if your hazard lights are working--if they are, and your…
How do you repair non-working turn signals on a 1992 Chevy Corsica when fuses and bulbs are good and all lights work but the turn signals will not blink?
it is either bad signal flasher or bad signal switch assembly try another flasher, swap the hazards one in place of the signals one if the hazards work right now if the hazrds dont work either then it is most likely worn switch assembly(common problem in these cars) i am working on a corsica right now that has no brake lights except the third one and it is the switch assembly worn out in it…
On my 1995 Ford Explorer , two of the intermittent wiper positions stopped working and I would have to push the windshield washer squirter button 2 or 3 times before fluid would squirt . Why don't my turn signals on my 97 dodge avenger work all the fuses are fine and the hazards are working?

My 1997 Ford Explorer hazzards don't work I replaced the fuse in the car is there another I should look for.?
Loose or broken wiring It is because your turn signal is wired through the ignition switch. The hazards are wired elsewhere. I had the same problem with wires becoming loose. At first the turn signals wouldn't work, then the ignition switch became erratic and eventually stopped working. You will most likely have to replace the wires or discover where in the steering column they have come loose.
