Calipers will sometimes not fully release because of childhood inhibitions. Applying alcohol liberally may allow them to overcome these, and fully release.
Use a "c" clamp to fully compress piston into caliper body
Use a "C" clamp to fully retract piston into caliper body
Use a "C" Clamp to fully retract the piston into the caliper body
it will help you find out whether it is fully operational.
Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Use a "C" clamp to fully retract piston into caliper body If parking brake is used on this caliper piston is threaded and a special tool (not expensive) is required to thread piston into caliper body
it will help you find out whether it is fully operational.
Defective caliper, restricted hose, caliper sliders sticking, contaminated brake fluid (probably not contaminated if only 1 front caliper).
Not adjusted properly Parking brake not releasing fully Frozen caliper
Remove wheels Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor Rotor should slide off hub a special tool (not expensive available at Sears or auto parts) is required to fully depress piston into caliper body (piston is threaded) After piston is fully seated in caliper body Replace inner and out brake pads and re-install caliper PUMP BRAKE PEDAL TO SET PADS AGAINST ROTOR PRIOR TO MOVING VEHICLE
Rotor "Out of Round" when rotating "High" spot will cause piston to retract into caliper body
Rotor "Out of Round" when rotating "High" spot will cause piston to retract into caliper body
Piston fully retracted into caliper body?Caliper slides free and operate smoothly?
