I had a similar problem on a Dodge pickup, after having soom work done at the dealer there was a rattle that was driving me crazy....after many trips back to the dealer a young mechanic found the problem.....there was a small metal tag at the back of the engine that probably became loose while work was being done on the vehicle the rattle was only heard when I let off the gas....after the tag was removed I once again drove in peace.
Depends on how fast you are driving your tracker
Try pressing the emergency brake pedal one click to turn off Daytime running lights - Works in my 97
Sounds like the transmission needs servicing - filter and fluid change at a minimum, possibly more.
The transmission may need to be rebuilt. If it is automatic you can try dropping the transmission oil pan and replacing the filter and fluid.
The 1999 Tracker averages 25 mpg in the city. The tracker averages 28 mpg on the highway. These are estimates, the mileage can change with driving conditions.
The ball joints are at the end of the control arm, If they have play, the specs will vary and the alignment is not possible. They can also kill you if they break while your driving.
When driving a car with an automatic transmission up a steep hill it is not necessary to shift gears. The car will do that on its own when necessary.
pressing on the brake pedal lightly for a short distance
