If you look closely there are little holes along your eyelid and when one of those holes gets clogged than the liquid stuff builds up until there is to much pressure and it expands and blows out of the hole then it flows normally. Why do people say put a hot compress on it is because heat expands things so it expands and leaves sooner.
I believe it is a sty. A sty is an acute infection or inflammation of the secretory glands of the eyelids. It sometimes causes, because you get dirt in your eye. I don't think it would be a sty. More than likely it is a cornea ulcer. You should see your local optomatrist.

It is called a pig-sty.
The gland involved in the formation of a chalazion is a modified sweat gland that lies within the eyelid. This gland produces oil. When this gland becomes blocked, it can rupture and the inflammation process begins. A chalazion is not a sty. A sty can resemble a chalazion in the sense that it is also a lump in the eyelid. However, a sty involves glands and eyelash hair follicles that are closer to the skin surface of the eyelid. In addition, a sty is usually more painful and looks infected.
Pig Sty was created in 1995.
