My '93 Sport does the same thing periodically. This may be a cool safety feature Jeep uses to indicate your brake lights are not working. If this is the case it is as simple as replacing fuse or bulbs. if your lights flicker on and off i wouldheck for a short in your electricle systm or if they went out and stayed out i would start by checking the fuses in your fuse box.hope this helps.
1990 ford festiva dashboard light goes out when brake is applied and the instrutment guages some time don,t work what causes that
blown fuse blown fuse
Check grounding wire's then use a test light
It depends what lights you are talking about, most dash lights are just bulbs. However in the cluster for digital lights and the fog light acessories they are done by LED lights in which you can replace if you know the right voltage. There are a lot of dash lights, so IRepairing Dashboard LightsTake apart the dash (or area where the lights are burned out) and replace the bad bulbs with good ones.
check the fuse for the brake lights, they have thier own. also check the brake light switch at the at the top of the brake petal
Open the drivers door and look at the side of the dashboard. This is your access to the fuse box.
there is a bad ground somewhere
== ==
A short to ground causes all fuses to blow. If you have a trailer connecter then start there first.
Check to see if the parking/tailights are working Could be a bad fuse, or switch Could be an open in the dimmer rheostat
You need to replace the dimmer switch in your gauge cluster. This was caused by a bad ground happens all the time.
Check fuse number 4 on the inside fuse panel, something made it blow though so expect it to go again until you find the reason.
