Iodine test is a procedure that tells whether a certain element or the such contains starch (or sugar) in it.
In this test, we add iodine solution (with, possibly, KI reagent) to a material [in your case, sugar]. If starch ispresent, a blue-black, somehow purple, color will result, changing the initial color of iodine. If starch amylase (sugar) is NOT present, the color will remain orange/yellowish.
Iodine does not test for sugar. Benedicts solution turns orange, pink or yellow in the presence of sugar
Powdered sugar should turn a sickly-green when mixed with iodine.
If you add Iodine-KI reagent to foods containing - starch such as bread, potato, crackers, or flour. A blue-black color results. If starch is not present, then the color will stay orange or yellow. (Iodine will not turn blue-black on contact with cellulose or disaccharides such as sucrose in sugar). Thus if you apply Iodine to an unripe fruit (where the sugars are still held as starch) the fruit will turn Blue-Black.However, once the fruit is ripe and the starch has been transformed into sweet sugar, the application of Iodine will only stain the fruit orange or yellow.
the color of the potato will become dark blue
Before you know what happens when add iodine on saltine or soda cracker you need to do this step Materials Iodine Solution Saltine or Soda Cracker Test tube Saucer Medicine dropper Procedure 1. Grind the Saltine or Soda Cracker in saucer 2. Using the medicine dropper, add at least 3-4 drops of iodine solution 3. Observe any change of color It change color into dark blue.
2grm iodine and 4grm KI add to 1000ml of water
You get Mikey.
yes amylose yields a blue color and amylopectin yields a purple color

If you add iodine to starch the start will turn to a dark color blue/blk because of the enzyne Amylase (in starch), so if it is non starch there will not be a reaction and it will be clear.
purple
iodine is soluble in CHCl3. Liquid become purple in color.
it depends on how much iodine you add to the milk.
the color of the potato will become dark blue
The potato will turn blue, purple, or black as the iodine reacts to the starch in the potato.
It is simply called the Starch test which is the process of testing something for the presence of starch. Add Iodine solution to whatever is it you're testing and a dark blue/black color indicates the presence of starch
The reason why people add iodine to onion skin is so that its gets a color and so you can see it better.

White or "decolorized" iodine is the original product. The most common use of iodine is to sanitize an area of the body prior to performing surgery. The "colorized" iodine allows the surgeon assurance that the proper area is sterilized. Since there is little demand for white iodine, it is difficut to find. White iodine is a salt such as potassium iodide which is clear like table salt. If you put it on your skin, it will be clear, but if you add a little hydrogen peroxide on your skin, it will turn the characteristic orange color of iodine because the iodide will be converted to elemental iodine.
