According to the wiring diagram, the wire from the radio to this door speaker is brown w/pink stripe & the other wire that goes to the Rear Intigrated Control Panel (RICP) is tan with light green stripe.
dont remember the color exactly, but if the factory harness is still there, the clip side that you push in to remove the harness is positive
Remove the speaker covers from your 1997 Mercury. Remove the door speaker retaining screws. Remove the door speaker wiring harness. Reverse the process to install your new door speakers.

well if you have the door off already then take a Philips head screwdriver and romove the speaker if you put a new speaker in try to roll down your window all the way first before instaling the door pannel. you might need the spacer to bring it out alittle. i just cut the factory harness and splied in the corect harness
You do not need to remove the door panel to change your speakers. Remove the speaker cover, by prying outward on the speaker cover retaining clips. Remove the speaker retaining screws. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the speaker.
The speaker wires have 2 pin connectors that connect to the coaxial speakers in the doors.. If looking to upgrade speakers make sure you do research on the physical size of the new speaker as there might be issues. Also you can pick up a wire harness to connect the factory wire harness that is mounted to the door to a new set of speakers.
green and grey for rear door speakers and purple and grey for front door speakers
Fix the wiring harness between the body and the door, then in 10 months do the other side!!

The left speaker wire (+) is dark green, and the left speaker wire (-) is brown/red in the door of a 1997 Dodge Ram. For the right speaker, the right speaker wire (+) is purple, and the right speaker wire (-) is dark blue/red.
first, take the door panels off. next, there are four screws you have to remove. after that the speakers can be removed from the door, do not forget to disconnect the wiring harness from the speaker.
