This vintage Honda has a fuel injection relay located on the far left side under the dash. On my 88 Civic it was just left of the small compartment that looked like an ashtray. These relays have a problem with the solder joints failing and can be removed, resolderd and replaced. Other symptoms are hard starting when the interior of the car is warm. There may be a computer under the carpet in passenger foot well area that will blink an LED to give you the exact trouble code. Searching trouble codes for Civic will lead you in the right direction.
AnswerI have a 1990 Honda civic 3 door, and my check engine light was on, about a month ago. I took it to a mechanic, and they told me that the fuel injection might be stuffed, or dirty. they also told me that it may be an electrical problem thoose two otions are the most important ones, because the last one was a tune-up and i check all and the tune-up, and cleaning the fuel injection worked.no cause they are different years, model changed.
First check to make sure you have enough coolant in the car.
cause its a civic that Honda makes
Your 1994 Honda Civic will overheat when the thermostat is malfunctioning. The overheated engine can experience the idle to surge. The engine should be turned off immediately.
Take it to auto zone and have the battery and alternator checked out free.
The Honda Civic loses idle at stop due to not have consistent air flow. The engine will run too lean and cause the car to shut off.
The most common cause for your 1997 Honda Civic lights to dim is a bad alternator. The alternator is not charging the battery. The battery retains a small charge, but not enough charge to run the engine.
A 1991 Honda Civic DX 1.5 liter engine starter might stick because the starter is damaged. The flywheel might be missing teeth which could cause the starter to stick.
A blocked fuel filter could cause the engine to lose power on a 92 Honda Civic DX. Fuel injectors that need changing or cleaning could also be the cause.
Cause it does
There are several things that can cause your 1990 Honda Civic engine light to come on when you go over 60 miles per hour. The most common cause is a malfunctioning PCV valve.
Those systems you mentioned will work normally with the engine off, if you are saying that you cannot shut them off at all then the multi function switch for the lights is faulty or damaged.
