Check your rear Shocks, Transmission mount, exc.
The expedition door lock relay could be stuck causing the grinding noise. Check to insure that the lock relay is working properly.
It could be a couple different things. Most obvious would be brakes. If a brake is sticking and worn you could be hearing a grinding noise as you accelerate. Second could be a driveline issue. Worn u-joints or something sticking in the transfercase (4X4) could also cause a grinding noise. Best advise is to find a reputable service shop and have them diagnose the noise properly. Good luck!
A bad starter might make a noise. The starter could also go bad with no noise or warning. However if the starter is making noise then there is a problem that could cause failure at any time
A bad compressor belt can cause a whistling noise while running the air conditioner. A bad engine can also cause this noise.

Change your plugs.
Stuck hydraulic lifter.
The belt is slipping.
