Check the bulbs
Check socket for power and ground
Check wiring to rear light sockets
check the fuses
There could be issues with the inside of your car an I would recommend going to the mechanic
Fuse
Check the brake switch at the pedal.
Maybe it is not connected properly or you bought the wrong type of bulb.
It could be a blown fuse. Tail lights and brake/turn are on separate fuses. Apparently there is not a ground problem since brake/turn works OK.
On a toyota tacoma 2003 SR5 when the tail lights are turned on the brake lights come on and when the tail lights are of the brake lights work just fine what could be the problem. If the truck has a trailer plug, inspect the plug and plug wiring for damage and corrosion.
Those tail lights could be the brake lights you are seeing and that would be a faulty brake light switch or the brake light switch is out of adjustment.
This usually means a bad or wrong bulb in the tail lights
The ground for the brake lamp. When the tail lights are off, the tail light circuit can act as a ground for the brake light. When the tail lights are on, it can't.
I own a ford f150 and my tail lights are not working, but my brake work. What could wire or what could be causing that.
if the tail lights work but not brake lights then its most likely just a blown fuse or it could be the switch at the top of your brake pedal arm.
The problem points to the directional/lights and hazard switch. The brake light wiring is part of that circuit. You can buy the switch after market it is about $70.00.
It is either a bad relay , cut wire or the wrong wattage bulb .
