The brass float on my son's 1994 explorer leaked and had fuel in it causing to show empty all the time. We had to pull the fuel pump/sending unit out of the gas tank. Had to remove the gas tank to do this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A 1992 Ford Explorer has a 15 amp fuse in location # 17 for the fuel gauge according to my Chilton repair manual (Helpfull)
fuel gauge stays on full and the tempreture does not move from cold on ford explorer 1998

Fuel Level Sensor in the fuel pump. Replace the fuel pump. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A 1992 Ford Explorer has a 15 amp fuse in location # 17 for the fuel gauge Helpfull
Bad fuse - I believe it is fuse # 17 - 15 amp for the fuel gauge on your 1994 Explorer bad sending unit - it's combined with your fuel pump inside the fuel tank bad wiring connection possibly the gauge itself
If the temperature gauge is not working, one thing it could be besides the gauge itself is a blown fuse. Another possibility is a loose or broken wire on the gauge.Ê
A common cause for a gas gauge to stop working in a 1994 Ford Aspire is a defective fuel gauge. Lose wiring in the dash is another cause.
Fuel [Petrol] Gauges that Fail to WorkAlthough there could be one or more other causes for a fuel/Petrol gauge to fail to work, the answer is YES, a "blown" fuse could cause the gauge to not work.
Could be temperature sensor Could be gauge
it could be the instrument control panel cluster that's what is wrong with mine
There are several reasons why a gas gauge could stop working. A short in the wire from the sending unit could be the culprit. The computer that controls the dashboard gauges could be going out.
The gas gauge in the Eddie Bauer Explorer probably does not work due to a bad fuel sending unit. The sending unit is in the fuel tank in the same access area as the fuel pump.
The sending unit that is locate inside of the gas tank w/ the fuel pump or the gas gauge itself is bad. assuming the rest of the cluster is working.
