Sounds like the unit is being parked on an incline. If this is the case, when you come to a stop before shifting into ark engauge the parking brake. This will keep the parking pawl in the transmission from getting into a bind. Before releasing the parking brake when you wish to drive again shift into drive before releasing the brake. if this does not solve your problem you may have internal transmissin damage.
dirty trans fluid might be the cause. have it changed, but not flushd
The 2003 Chevrolet Suburban front axle hub as a torque specification of 120 pounds. You should never exceed the torque specification as you will cause the wheel seal to fail.
There are several reasons that can cause smoke two, out of the exhaust on your 1993 Chevrolet suburban. The most common reason is a dirty fuel injector.
It could be out of gas.

There are several things that can cause your 2000 Chevrolet to backfire and die. The most common cause is a plugged catalytic converter.
The thermostat may be stuck open
A broken spring retainer in the shifter.
The most common cause of the shifter to be stuck in park is a broken spring retainer in the shifter assembly. The only fuse that could cause that would be the brake lights fuse. If you have brake lights, it is not a fuse problem.
your syncros might be worn or the shifter might need a new plasice ball on the end or the whole shifter needs rebuilt
There is a part called the Shifter Sheet by Suzuki. This rubber part sits below the shifter ball in the top of the t-case. When it dries up and crumbles away the t-case shifter can get stuck. A new part is only a few dollars and is easy to replace. If you have this issue, you also probably have a sloppy shifting 5 speed transmission. A new "shifter bolt" will fix this issue.
I had the problem with my 2000 regal 2x. They replaced the ignition, which did not work. I went up north and a friend worked at the gm dealer. He said it was the solenoid in the shifter. He replaced the shifter and guess what, it worked!! AnswerActually, I had this happen to my 94 sable and I was trying to get the key out for a while. Make sure the car is in PARK or the key won't come out.
try loosening up the bolts on the linkage that connects to the shifter from under the car. If to tight it might cause stiffness
Check the switch on the brake pedal that allows the transmission shifter to move into gear. If this switch/cable is broken the shifter doesn't know the brake is pressed so it will not allow shifter to move. It is a safety feature... a good one too.
Your steering column is locked. how do you fix it
The most common cause is a broken spring retainer in the shifter assembly.
shifter cable, low transmission fluid or faulty transmission.

Plastic petcock shaped like a T. it will be on the passenger side of the radiator facing the rear of the truck.Be careful when draining as to not burn yourself. Also try to catch the coolant in a tub or something so animals dont drink it. It will cause them immediate death.
Most likely cause is that you have a bad shifter module, which is the shifter itself. I've seen lots of these, try and play with the shifter to get it out of park, and make sure you have the brake pedal depressed. If you can get it out of park take it to a repair shop this way, and leave the shifter in neutral if you have to turn the car off, that way you can still start the car, and still move the shift lever to drive.
I'd change the fluid and filter, but no guarantees.
It may just be a screw came loose underneath your gear shifter. That is what happened to me. Just slide the stuff up to the top of your gear shifter and look underneath. If one of the bolts is udone, just simple put it back on.
The most likely cause is the turn signal flasher.
