In April 1940, Germany invaded Denmark and Norway, having already taken over Czechoslovakia and Poland in 1938 and 1939. The Soviet Union had attacked and taken over part of their tiny neighbor Finland, and in 1940 Estonia and Latvia had surrendered to the might of the Soviet union.
Later in May 1940, Germany invaded France, Belgium, The Netherlands, & Luxemburg. In 1941 it was Greece and Yugoslavia that were invaded. They also attacked a number of British colonies in Northern Africa, including Egypt. Germany also began to bomb England in 1940.

The Battle of Belgium was part of Hitler's Blitzkrieg in western europe in the spring of 1940. It was fought in Belgium, hence the name.

OK, you can ask to that: "but why didn't he think of the winter?"<- That was because he originally wanted to attack it in spring, and when he gets to Moscow, he was hoping, that the Russians will give up. But(!!!) because of Italy attacking Greece and Yugoslavia starting to rise up against him, he wanted to settle those countries, then attack the Soviet Union. It was June by then, and he thought he could still occupy the Soviet Union. But he was wrong!!! But he could still make a couple of changes by the borders, and he surrounded Leningrad and Stalingrad.
