They live currently in the four corners (Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico) as they have for centuries up to at least 1100 years before today. The Navajo Nation actually comprises the largest reservation in the US.
The Navajo live all over the southwestern United States (and other places).
There are about 300,000 Dine' (Navajo people). The Navajo Nation today is 27,413 squre miles covering parts of northeast Arizona, northwest New Mexico, and southeast Utah. The majority live on or in towns near the Navajo Nation.
The traditional boundaries are larger than this area and are marked by the four sacred mountains. They are Mt. Blanca in southwest Colorado, Mt. Taylor in west central New Mexico, San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, Arizona, and Hesperus Peak near Cortez, Colorado. The two center mountains are Gobernador Knob and El Huerfano Mesa in New Mexico.
The traditional origin areas (Dine'tah) are in the upper upper San Juan River Basin in Northwestern New Mexico and Southeastern Colorado. The Traditional emergence place is in the San Juan mountains.
Which Navajo? They're more than one. There are more than 300,000. Hah! Jk, They live in the four corners area formed by UT, CO, AZ and NM. Primarily AZ and part of NM. Their reservation is larger than West Virginia. They would tell you they live in beauty or that they live surrounded by the four sacred mountains. I know, I used to live there too! :)
The Navajo people lived in the southwestern US. They still live in their traditional territory, in the four corners area of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. The Navajo tribe is the largest federally recognized tribe in the United States.
