According to many historians and history books, San Marino is claimed to be the oldest republic in the world. San Marino became independent from the Roman Empire in September 3, 301 AD and is the first country to have its borders unchanged. It also has the world’s oldest constitution since it was written in 1600. However, San Marino was not recognized as an independent country until 1631, and it is true that other countries have traced back to earlier years. So, the real oldest country in the world is still not known for sure.
