Technically, what is generally considered to be Japan has never been invaded (well, at least in over 1000 years).

During World War Two, the United States (with help from several Allied countries, notably Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada) invaded both Iwo Jima and Okinawa, which many Japanese consider part Japan. The main Japanese Home Islands were occupied by the United States after the surrender of Japan, so properly, they were never invaded.
