To my understanding the reason Truman helped the Europeans and Asian countries was because of communism, when countries are weak and poor they fall to communism and he didn't want that.
To save resources for the war effort.
all of them, we want money, we are greeding mofos :)
Yeah, women were treated like dirt during world war 2. Men thought we were useless. But we can fight! (Not that I want to.) Good thing we have respect now.
The US was concerned about the European countries regaining their colonies during the Monroe Doctrine because they don't want to be dethroned as the world's superpower.
You may want to narrow down your criteria a good bit. The question is much too broad, as several countries were not members of NATO in the 1950s - some of those countries later became members of NATO, some were in the Warsaw Pact in the 1950s (some of those, too, would eventually become members of NATO), some countries were unaligned.
Most wanted isolationism because the countries that agreed to it wouldn't have to worry about other countries' needs and finances
The main reason is mutual defense treaties. For instance, all the members of NATO which includes 28 member countries have pledged that an attack on any member country is considered an attack on all NATO members. They have pledged to come to the defense of all member nations. Other reasons are land, trade, or natural resources. Japan bascially went to war with the U.S. during WW2 because of oil and other natural resources.
The Soviet Union's suffering during World War II partially justifies their desire to control neighboring countries. They want to control possible threats and create a buffer zone around the Soviet Union.
Because Japan wanted control of the world. They didn't just want to bomb the countries in the pacific, that's just where they decided to start. But, fortunatly, they did not succeed in "World Domination".
The English speak countries want English be the world language

No Switzerland is and has been since 1815 neutral. The Swiss constitution bans it from becoming a member of any military alliance. It is not, and does not want to be, a member of NATO.
During World War II, Japan controlled the Northern Marianas including Guam, Cambodia, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, and part of China. They wanted to control them-and they did.
