They are all small Arabian principalities called "Emirates". Most of them are oil-rich countries ruled by historic elders with almost no semblance of democracy. Also, because of the rapidly expanding economies of these countries there are large immigrant populations that are a few times larger than the Arabian natives. This has resulted in various degrees of legal and systemic discrimination.
