What do you do if you feel a spirit around you?

In general, if you have to ask, you're not. Most people who are know that they are, and tend to keep it to themselves, or within a small circle of family or friends.

However, most people usually have something about them that attracts activity to them. My closest friend once drowned and was revived during a firefighter training accident, having an NDE in the process. On every investigation we've gone to where there's been activity, he's always singled out, usually being touched or having other events happen (tearing, waves of emotion, etc.). This is not a lightweight - he's a trained professional investigator, retired firefighter and combat veteran.

You can always try and verify any activity present also - setup an audio recorder while you go about your daily routine or in your house, and run a camera in areas you think might have a presence. Ghosts tend to communicate with those who occupy the space they inhabit, not so much strangers. Remember that human spirits were once people too, and if it's one trying to communicate, don't be shy if there isn't any feeling of malevolence (you'd know it if there was - malevolent entities are pretty straightforward about their intentions).

Generally, turn on all the lights, try not to soil myself, run like the wind, and wait for my heart to stop racing. Much the same as any guest. If it feels like something you want, then work with communicating. If it seems to be something you don't want, simply ask them to leave. Talk to them. See what they want. If you can sense them but cant see or hear them, ask them to give you a sign that they are with you, to confirm what you are sensing. If it is all too creepy for you, tell them to leave you alone, they will usually understand and leave you in peace. If your brave, talk to them. Ask them what they want and tell them about you. If someone in your family had died then ask it or them if you can see that family member. If they say no to that then ask it or them to tell you about it or them. If nothing happens let it or them talk. If something still doesn't happen then leave it alone or ask it to go away. If nothing still doesn't happen then turn on the closest light. If your afraid or scared then try to turn all the lights on and if it or they don't go away then run and if there parents are people in the house or place then get them. If there are no parents or people then run, far far away. If it or them chase you then run to the closest house where you see signs that people are home like the lights are on or you hear people inside talking.

Spirits and ghost aren't real, so there's nothing that can be in your house. There are several reasons people think they're real or that they've seen one. These include lying, visual and auditory pareidolia, hallucinating and hoaxing among others. Ghosts have never been proven to exist, so it is intellectually responsible and prudent to conclude they do not exist.

In order to make sense of our world, we must use the scientific method, not spooky stories, opinions, hoaxes or outright lies by people who need attention or need to feel special. Other believers may be uneducated, superstitious or just too young and naive.

The Scientific method refers to a body of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry must be based on gathering observable, empirical and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning. A scientific method consists of the collection of data through observation and experimentation, and the formulation and testing of hypotheses.

Scientific researchers propose hypotheses as explanations of phenomena, and design experimental studies to test these hypotheses. These steps must be repeatable in order to dependably predict any future results. Theories that encompass wider domains of inquiry may bind many independently derived hypotheses together in a coherent, supportive structure. This in turn may help form new hypotheses or place groups of hypotheses into context.

Among other facets shared by the various fields of inquiry is the conviction that the process must be objective to reduce biased interpretations of the results. Another basic expectation is to document, archive and share all data and methodology so they are available for careful scrutiny by other scientists, thereby allowing other researchers the opportunity to verify results by attempting to reproduce them. This practice, called full disclosure, also allows statistical measures of the reliability of these data to be established.

In summation: For something to exist it has to be proven. This is how we escaped the dark ages - using reason and logic.So, for now, ghosts do not exist.
