You need to determine who was responsible for getting the discharge recorded. If you personally paid off the loan, then you may have misplaced the original discharge which the lender sent you for recording. If you used a law firm, then the closing attorney would be responsible for obtaing the mortgage discharge and then recording it with the proper registry of deeds.
