Put it back on and tighten the bracket.
To change a power steering belt on a Rover 214, unbolt the power steering pump and pry the belt off the pulley. Replace with another steering belt and reinstall the steering pump.
Remove the power steering pump hose. Remove the power steering pump belt. Remove the power steering pump retaining bolts. The power steering pump will come off.
If you pull the bolt next to the oil dipstick out of the power steering unit it will give you plenty of slack to get the belt off.
Loosen the tensioner pulley. Remove the power steering belt. Remove the power steering hose. Remove the power steering retaining bolts. The power steering pump will come off.
The adjusting pulley for the power steering is found on the side of the engine under the power steering pump. Loosen the bolt that keeps it tight and the belt will have some slack to slide off the pulley.
your pump could be low on power steering fluid, your power steering belt could have came off if equiped with a separate belt and finally the pump could have failed from low fluid, or dirty fluid
If the alternator and other things on the engine are ran off of the same belt as the power steering pump, it could turn everything off.
Begin by removing the belt from your 1994 Chevy Suburban power steering pump. Remove the power steering pump hose. Remove the power steering pump retaining bolts. The power steering pump will come off.
It is driven off the serpentine belt
Sounds like bad power steering pump, but could also just be the power steering pump belt is slipping.
The belt tensioner for the AC/Alternator belt is beneath the alternator. Facing the engine from bumper you can see the ac/alternator belt tensioner on the left side and beneath the alternator. Losen that bolt with size 12 socket. Next, loosen the tensioner bolt until the belt loosens. Now, with the Power Steering Belt you can loosen it by locating the belt tensioner usually found inside of the power steering belt on the power steering pump. Loosen both bolts and if needed pry UP the power steering belt tensioner and the belt should loosen. Repeat until belt comes off. Installation is the reversal of removal. NOTE: You may have to pry down the power steering pump tensioner to tighten the belt.
You have to loosen the power steering pump bolts and push down on the pump and the belt will loosen to take it off, to put it back on you route the belt over the pulleys and pull up on the steering pump and when tight tighten the pump bolts and your done.
