The best way to deal with it is to happy with what you are and always not to let anything that is insulting about your being get to you. A: I agree with the above answer, I have been "out" for 6 years and ever since my life has been better. It's best just to live your life to the fullest. Being gay is not a illness.. Seek professional help if you need someone to help you A: Don't be put off!
Some people may warn you, "Don't be gay. It will fill your life with difficulties." They think that somehow you can choose to be gay or to be straight. They are mistaken. Could they suddenly decide to be gay, as if by magic? No way!
(Being gay does bring some difficulties, but you are strong! Read another question: "Does gay life bring difficulties (not written yet)" in the Related Questions below.)
Parents might say, "You're too young to know. Wait a few years!" They don't know that you've had this in the back of your mind for a long time. There is probably nothing you've thought and worried about more. If they only knew!
(And why couldn't you come to them for support? Jewish kids, black kids, migrant kids, they could all come home after a hard day at school and know that their parents understood and supported their Jewishness, or their blackness, or their migrantness. But you had to deal with your gayness all on your own!)
Parents might say, "Are you sure you're gay? You should try having a (boyfriend or girlfriend) of the opposite sex, to make really sure you're gay!" Would they say a similar thing to their son, "Son, are you certain you're straight? We think you should try having a boyfriend, first, just to make really sure!" Anyway, you've tried that already. You've really checked out to see if you can be attracted to the opposite sex.
Parents might say, "But the Bible says it's wrong." If you believe in God you can reply, "I know that this is the way God made me. I have no choice. I have to be the best gay person that I can be!" (And you might mention that The Bible forbids us to eat shellfish (Lev. 11:10), so why is the freezer full of shrimp?)
Someone suggested that you know you're gay if you'd rather eat chocolate than sleep with someone of the opposite sex. Mmmm!Chocolate is nice! And shrimp!
Gay people are really no different from any other people, except for their choice of partners. They are cooks, lawyers, teachers, doctors, cashiers, senators and garbage collectors. They pay their taxes, drive carefully, keep their places clean, go to jail for tax fraud, get drunk and crash their cars, make their mothers ashamed of their dirty bedrooms, everything. Just the same as straight people! Except for the person they love and go to bed with!
If you are really gay, then you know that's what you are, and you have no choice. You do have a choice as to what you do now. Do you hold your head up, look the world in the eye, and be proud? Sounds good!
You don't need help. You're perfectly fine. Tell your parents and the people close to you and don't try to hide it. Be happy with who you are.
You are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you. By asking this question, you've taken a brave and healthy first step. Carry on! Bigots have been trying to make us hide and be ashamed of who we are. They're wrong. YOU ARE OKAY!
It depends some on how old you are. A lot of young teens go through a period where they're attracted to others of the same sex, then realize a few years later that they're straight. But if all, or almost all, of your sexual fantasies involve other people of the same sex, you're gay. There is nothing wrong with this! (Read that sentence again and again until you believe it.)
The same rules apply to gay and straight relationships: it's about trust, and helping your partner be the best that s/he can be, and them doing the same for you. The "Plumbing" is incidental.
Until you're old enough to legally consent to sex, you'll have to content yourself with masturbation -- nothing to be ashamed of. If there's a gay-straight alliance in your school, join them. It helps to know you're not alone. And take a look at the "It Gets Better" series of U-tube clips.
Once you relize you are gay, love it and love life. Be proud that you are a member of only about 3-8 percent of the population. Be happy that you live in an era where gay rights are rapidly increasing.
If you are Gay you can do 99% of things any heterosexual can do and 1% of things any heterosexual cannot do, Isn't that great!
Being Gay does not mean you are different to everyone else in most things. It is only the way you are sexually orientated that is different, and you don't need to tell everyone everything about yourself, so get on and enjoy being you, do the things you like to do, and forget all else you have heard. Don't try and change yourself for anyone, not even yourself, as it will just make you unhappy. Let others accept you for who you are, and if they don't like it then tough! Stay positive and you will succeed at whatever you want.
Same thing you'd do if you were straight. Within reason, whatever you want. Go to college. Get a job. Take a nap. Buy a PS3. Hang out with your friends. Watch TV. Have a drink. Play football. Bake a cake. Eat some Pizza. Take a shower. Anything!
