You take care of the other babies by putting them in separate cages.
DON'T TOUCH THE BABIES UNTIL THEY HAVE HAIR. The mother probably ate some of the babies because:
1. She felt threatened.
2. She might have needed more protein.
Other reasons the mother may eat the babies is if the litter is too large for the mother to care for all the young or if the babies have already died on their own. Are you sure the mother actually killed them?
You should not touch the baby hamsters until they are 6 weeks old. Don't play with the mother hamster. If you touch the baby hamsters before 4 weeks the mother hamster might eat her babies. Give extra food because the mother might think that there isn't enough food and kill some of her babies. Don't be surprised when the mother eats her baby because the baby might be sick. I never had a female hamster but I read all this from a book. Good Luck!
If baby hamsters die in the mother's stomach, she may absorb and reabsorb them to regain nutrients. In some cases, the mother may give birth to the dead babies, or they may cause an infection that can be life-threatening for the mother. It is important to provide proper care and nutrition to pregnant hamsters to prevent such issues.
a few years
No they are not endangered. No, hamsters were discovered over 70 years ago and breed with large litters, they tend to survive if the mother has not already eaten them.Yes, but only in the wild.
There are many possibilities, you can give some to friends or acquaintances, you can sell them on ebay, you can give them to the animal shelter, and many more.
I'm pretty sure all baby hamsters eat for the first few days or weeks is their mothers milk but as long as you put a cucumber or broccoli eventually they will learn how to eat solid food. Just make sure you do not touch the babies or else the mother will eat her babies. You could try putting some bread soaked in milk in a little bowl in their cage, but don't take my word for it. I'm sure someone else would have a better answer than me. Your Welcome!
Yes they so but only sometimes when baby hamsters are born don't touch them until they grow a coat because if you touch the hamster when its a baby it will gain human smell so the mom will eat it and either way the male will eat it anyway when its a baby so put the male hamster in a different cages
they should start to look like hamsters after 11-12 days (some take longer/shorter than others) hope this helped! xoxo iluvedwardcullen16
you don't need to, but to keep them healthy, giv'em some.
Well if you take away all of her babies then yes she will feel some lonesome and it may cause her to wine, scratch, runny nose. But if you leave at least one baby hamster with her she will not be upset and none of those symtyms above will happen. So i recomend you sell all of them(exept one.)and give the one you have not sold to the mother hamster and take care of her. p.s. you will not have to take care of the baby as much as you take care of the mother because the mother will take care of the baby but do feed her and love her as the mother hamster does. I HOPE I HELPED!!!(: MERRY CHRISTMAS!
yes they can 'til they will start to fight, if you have syrian hamsters you should keep watching them if they going to be older than 4-5weeks , because in that age the mother can start to fight with her kids, but some mothers can live abit longer with their kids.. also you should seperate the male baby hamsters, because they'll start to breed aboout 5weeks old :)
Yes, most likely when a mother has babies.Only some others like older ones are just aggressive. So make sure if you want 2 in one cage make sure they are social and are a non-aggressive species. When you have baby hamsters with a mother it is best for you to not touch them. Your smell will stick to the baby hamsters. The mother will become frightened and will attack the baby hamsters if necessary. Some of the weaklings will get eaten too.
