This costs a fortune, so you will have to be independently wealthy or have/win many supporters. It is nearly impossible for a citizen without massive wealth to reach the White House even though there is no written law preventing one from doing so. You must win in a general election. You must be sworn in by the Chief Justice. Alternately, you may become president if you are vice president (or next in line) when the sitting president becomes unable to continue to serve either temporarily or permanently.
