The vikings were limited by two things: geography and technology.

They were hindered by cold weather which occurs in their area 9 months out of the year, which made long-distance travel virtually impossible. They also survived by pillaging civilizations who were also inclined to these weather paterns.

More importantly was technology. While they were amazing pioneers in their day, developing incredible boats and nautical technologies, the fact remains that they were required to stay near land and could not survive deep ocean voyages. That's why their paths consistently snake along the Coastlines of North America and Europe.

Why do you think explorers from different countries followed similar routes?

Explorers often followed similar routes because they were guided by existing maps, knowledge, and trade routes. Additionally, they sought to reach common goals such as finding new trade routes, discovering new territories, and claiming resources. Cultural and political influences also played a role in shaping their exploration paths.
