. I think that in Fast-Forward, the biggest challenge Addis (the main character) had to overcome was adapting to his new enviroment. For about 13 years, Addis had been living in his homeland, Ethiopia, with his to siblings, Miti and Eyob; they were orphans. When people decided to adopt him and his siblings, they moved to America. Addis and his siblings had to learn a totally new language, English. He spent two hours everyday listiening to tapes that helped him learn English. At school, he has a special teacher, Patty McCormick, helping Addis in his studies. Even he himself said learning English was hardest; "Not being able to speak English was the most difficult thing for me…" This is what Addis' biggest challenge was.
