If you are talking about the OD labled on the gear selector as in Drive "D" Park "P" reverse "r" etc. it means Overdrive which is a highway cruising gear to provide better fuel economy. The car usually will not shift into this higer gear until you reach 50 MPH. It is not recommended when towing or mountain driving.
