I think I have either a bearing or rotor but im not sure if its both or not or which one it might be. my wheel now wahbles to where i cant drive it was knocking when i turned sharply, an you try to help -
what do brakes look like when they go bad, how far can rotors go?
Wheel imbalance, bad wheel bearing, bad rotor(s).
A stop- Rotor out of round, possibly bad wheel bearing.
If you have a bad rotor, when you turn a corner sharply it will make a humming noise kind of a wah wah wah (if you will). If you have it apart, the bearing would probably look visibly worn, rusty, dry, ground down etc. Hope this helped.
How are your calipers an wheel bearings looking. i had a bad wheel bearing and actually blew and warped my rotor.
Does a bad thow out bearing sound like a bearing
I am assuming by rotor bearing you mean a wheel bearing, to see if a wheel bearing is bad there are two was to do this, first is to move the wheel in a up and down motion (with your hands) and see if there is any play, the other way (if it is the front wheel bearings this will only worth with an awd or fwd vehicle) you can lift the car and put it in drive and listen for any noise coming from the bearing itself, you may need a pair of electronic ears or a stethoscope to do this, if there is a grinding or rumbling noise at all, you have yourself a bad wheel bearing
Out of round or metal-metal on the pads or (possibly) bad bearing.
brake pads shot, warped rotor, or bad wheel bearing/hub
try to look on the back inside of the rotor (right where the shaft goes in) and there should be a seal pressed against it. Pry that seal off and you should be able to pull the rotor straight off. If not, make sure that seal is removed and beat and pry the rotor until it comes off. If you have to do this, it is usually means you have a bad inner bearing. The bearing will need to be replaced. Pull it off the shaft with a three jaw puller.
Assuming this is a front wheel drive model, it could be any of the following; Rear wheel alignment off Warped rim (even slightly warped) Bad Rotor/drum Incorrect insertion of bearing race Over tightening the bearing/(rotor/drum) nut Bent spindle Bent or worn trailing arm or bushings. Bad quality Wheel Bearings.
Bad wheel hub bearing? If you are referring to the slip-on type of rotor, then yes, some of them feel loose on the hub and this is normal.
