Remove the ignition coil. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE Install the ignition coil to the bracket. Install the ignition coil mounting bolts. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten Tighten the ignition coil mounting bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in) . Connect the ignition coil harness connector. Connect the spark plug wires at the ignition coils. Install the engine cover.

Each spark plug has it's own ignition coil, they are on the spark plug itself. Unplug the ignition coil connector, remove the bolt holding the coil in place, pull the coil off of the spark plug and out of the valve cover. Install the new coil.

I would suspect the coil itself, even with the wire connecting to the distributor cap removed, you should still see a spark from the connector on the coil to the body of the coil itself
