provides power to the CDI
i was told buy Ricky Stator for my 2000 Yamaha 350 warrior and i think its the same for yours is green to brown=300 ohms red to white=500 ohms its your stator, i had the same problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First you need to unplug the two plugs coming out of the stator, you will see one with three prong holes: that's for the source coil and the other has four that is where you check your pickup coil, depending on what year you have, there will be two coils on the early years 87- maybe up to 90 or 92, after that just a single onward. The color coding on the wires you will have to get out of a Yamaha factory manual, to figure out which coil is bad, the Clymer manual won't show you the color to each coil.
Generally, .028" unless you have a weak stator or coil.
its not exactly a normal pickup but it is under the left side cover
Check for loose wires, then most likely a bad coil or rusty mag maybe bad cdi or stator
Looking for coil ohms and stator ohms. And possibly the voltage comming out of the stator .
CDI BOX OR STATOR jsstang87, Also look at your ignition coil! Make sure your key way hasn't sheered off, make sure all your wiring is ok
The coil to the spark plug is called an ignition coil on a Yamaha EF600. It is also referred to as the spark coil. These two terms are used for any coil to the spark plug in a vehicle.
It may be your stator, coil or even your spark plug give these a go if your stator isn't giving enough power it won't give the electrical charge to your coil Try this it may be the problem
Yes you do. You have to take the distributor shaft out of the distributor to Remove the pick-up coil / stator.
You have to break the motor down to the armature (bit runs through middle) and stator the coil. cut all the copper from one end of stator. stand the stator on its pre-cutt end place wood in to the center of the stator and set fire to the wood ensuring all the varnish/resin is burnt away on the stator . then with tongs or pliers remove the looped ends of copper by with drawing the strands from their respective groves
Your stator mite have gone bad. I had the same prob on my 98 grizzly 2 yrs ago and that's what it ended up being. But I also changed the computer box on the frame
