You'll need a 20pt torx bit on at least a 3" driver. Start by parking the car on level ground. Apply the parking brake. Turn the key to 'on', press the brake pedal and move the shift lever to D or 2. The trim piece is snapped into place. I used my fingernails to pull it directly away from the console. When it's free, unplug the cigarette lighter cord from the back by pressing in on the locking tab while pulling away from the lighter fixture. Once the lighter is unplugged, you can remove the trim piece. (unless your car has another accy in the trim piece, in which case, unplug that, too).
Using the torx driver, unscrew the exposed screw on the driver's side of the console. It was covered by the upper-left corner of the trim piece. Pull the console piece gently away from the shift lever and unscrew the 2 torx screws holding the shift indicator assembly to the floor of the car. They are on the driver's side of the indicator. Then, carefully lift the indicator assembly up under the shift lever. There are two plastic pins on the passenger side of the indicator assy. Be careful not to break them. The lamp is in a holder, twist-locked to the underside of the indicator assembly. Twist the lamp holder counter-clockwise (looking from the top) ~1/8 turn and the holder will come out of the indicator assembly. It uses a 194 lamp. I used a 194LL because I don't want to have to do that again.
You are going to have to get a new car
The automatic transmission fluid in a 2004 Ford Mustang should be changed every 30,000 miles or once a year. The manufacturer has made this recommendation available in the owner's manual as well.

You can fit a manual transmission into an automatic Ford Mustang as long as you have the same engine but you will have to change a lot of things. Depending on the year, you would have to change things like the computer, wiring , steering column to add the clutch, etc. It would be better to buy one that's a 5 speed already.
