Goldfish as with most fish have a swim bladder, this helps keep them the right way up, sometimes this can get get an infection or other ailment which causes it to stop working, a common cause is over feeding.

∙ 14y agoIt means something is very much wrong. I would advise you do a big water change ASAP. Requirements of Oscars. Good clean water with pH around 6.8. Tank size at least 20 gallons for one fish or 30 gallons for 2 fish. Permanently running cycled filter, temperature above 75F and below 85F. Weekly water change of at least 50% every week without fail.
