It is important to know why a Check engine light blinks. In many cars, when it blinks so many times, it is indicating a code, which is indicating the problem number for the specific car.
It means there's some fault code. Narrowing it down, you'd need to check to see what code it flashes at you. Key in the on position, diagnostic or cruise control switch on, hold your Set-Accel/Hold-Deccel switch and count the blinks on the check engine light... it should blink a three digit code at you... the number of times the check engine light blinks is the number, then a pause, then it blinks another number, then a pause, then it blinks another number.
Your air bag light is flashing a code at you that means something is wrong with your air bag system
There isn't a jumper terminal, you cycle key on, off, on, off, on and count the blinks.
the blinking light tells you that you have a malfunction in 4wd system. you need someone to scan it for you to find diagnostic trouble code#
alright i have a 1990 Honda prelude si, my s3 light blinks when i drive. I was told that the blinking of the s3 light means that there is something wrong so look under the carpet an look at the red blinking lights for the trouble code. I found the trouble codes an i counted the blinks. the light on the left blinks 9 times and the one on the right blinks one long time then 6 more times.. what does this mean? what do i do next?????
If the light is flashing there is SOME kind of code in the computer. It may be an ABS code, a transmission code or who knows what. Unfortunately you'll need to find out what it means and engine diagnostic scanners don't always tell the whole story.
Just found it myself. Short the top two on the right side. Have the ignition turned to "on" and then do it. You get X number of blinks, a pause, then more blinks. Mine was 1 -pause- 2. 12 for me!
Usually an airbag light blinks to signal a problem. The number of blinks tells the driver the code number, which informs the driver of the problem.
16 blinks means that the computer thinks there is something wrong with the injectors. I have that same code. A friend of mine looked it up on his scan tool.

The airbag light is usually classified as a code 41.
