yes you will find that with research the transmissions on ford cars do tend to give out somewhere around 80,000 miles. mine just went out this morning with no warning signs at all. i drive a 2005 Ford Taurus se and its got 84,000 miles on it. it just stops shifting.

There could be several things wrong with the 2006 Taurus. The car may need transmission fluid or even a new transmission.

On a 2002 Ford Taurus : As far as I know the SEL trim level just had the 3.0 liter " Duratec" DOHC , V6 engine

The late model Ford Taurus FWD can be flat towed or dolly towed, An AWD can not. Just remember to release any parking brake completely and put it into neutral.
