I have owned a 2003 CLK 320 Convertable for the past 4 years. I recently found that the dealer and warranty shops are a hoax. I recently Changed the wheel bearings, rotors, calipers, brake pads, shocks, lower ball joints on the front, and added 18" chrome wheels, BF Goodwrench supersport Z rated 150MPH tires, front steering shock and had a front end alignment for the whopping total of $ 3400.00.

I origionally bought the car certified used from Mercedes and recently the warranty expired. I declined the over priced extended warranty and for a minute I thought that was a BIG mistake. Prior to the past 2 months the car had never been touched by anyone except for a certified Mercedes mechanic. It always felt good to have that piece of mind. NOT!!! It was amazing! When the car was serviced shortly before tha warranty expired for its routine oil change called out by the light, "Visit Workshop" light they changed the oil and gave me the car right back stating everything was in perfect working order. A question that i specifically asked because I knew the warrenty was about to expire. Shortly after the abs light came on and I reluctantly took it back to the dealer. They happily diagnosed the car and called me right away with a large list of things that the car needed. Brakes, rotors, lower ball joints. I immediately questioned how there could be this much needed in the short time since it had been in the shop??? They didn't have an answere??? Angry i left not having the $5000.00 that they were estimating it would cost. That is when i began my jorney in to working on my own European car. The car desperately needed tires as well. I did all my own research using the great worl wide web. I found a nice set of chrome Lexani 18" rims for about $1000.00 and BF Goodwrench SS Tires for 150 a pop. The rotors were about $100 ea the pads were about $120.00 for all. I did all of the work with self help forums on the internet. Changed the oil and had the front end alignment done $350. The car is beautiful. I used a regular cheap set of metric tools no specialty tools needed. All of the parts i purchases were genuine OEM manufactured in Germany. The same parts that the dealership uses. For example Front Rotors $650 a pair from dealership $160 from the local parts store. Same box same part. The rear rotors were $720. I paid 180 for the same part. In the long run i recently called Mercedes and requested a quote to have all of the work don that I just did to the car. They Quoted $9600.00 all inclusive. I spent $3200.00.

After changing the oil the service light was still on and i called Mercedes once more as a quick fix to get the light off, the oil was new! the said i had to make an appointment then pay 1/2hr labor @ 145/hr to have them reset the light. I got online and found that you turn on the key until the service B light is lit press and hold the reset button in the instrument cluster for 5 seconds and it reset itself. It took 10 minutes.

I know it may sound risky but you have to be determined. Saving money is what drove my experience. Now i have the piece of mind knowing that the car is in perfect working order and i did it all myself, for 1/3 of the cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a warning light to "check your engine". Visit a mechanic and have them use a computer code reader to check for a trouble code. On a 2005 there is a good chance that you may have a bad sensor, such as an oxygen sensor.

Where is the reset button for low coolant?

There isn't one; If the coolant level is ok, and the warning light still comes on, you have a defective sensor that needs to be replaced. It is located on the passenger side of the radiator with the wires running back towards the engine. Usually.
