It is a system of government characterized by a King or Queen as the head of the government. Normally the throne is inherited by the child of a monarch when the monarch dies or abdicates (resigns). However, in many monarchies (historically the Kingdom of Poland or the Holy Roman Empire) the position is elective--the monarch is chosen by a college of electors of some kind. "Monarch" comes from the Greek meaning "rule by one" and it refers to any system where a lot of the political power is concentrated in the hands of one person, whether that person is called a king, prince, emperor, or president.

There are 2 types of Monarchy; Constitutional monarchy (someone who reigns with limited power over a country) and the Absolute monarchy (who has full power over a country). A monarchy is a form of government known as a monarch ("single ruler"), or king (male), queen (female). Usually, the throne is inherited by the child of the current monarch, if they die or resign.

We would not have Christianity. Both Catholic and Orthodox Christianity and their theologies and rituals developed in the Roman Empire and became the state religion of this empire.Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian would not exist because they were languages derived from Latin. Many English words would not exist either because they are of Latin origin. The alphabets of the western European languages would not exist or would be different because they have adopted and adapted the Latin alphabet.Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical architecture would not have existed because they were modelled on Roman architecture. The influence of Latin literature on European literature would not have existed. The law of many modern countries is based on Roman law. This would not have happened.
