http://www.freeengineinfo.com/air-temp-sensor.htm An air temperature sensor is used on fuel injected engines. The purpose of an air temperature sensor is to help the computer calculate air density. A change in temperature changes the resistance in the sensor. Simply stated, the higher the air temperature gets the less dense the air becomes. As the air becomes less dense the computer knows that it needs to lessen the fuel flow. If the fuel flow was not changed the engine would become rich, possibly losing power and consuming more fuel. The temp sender is generally located in the air inlet tube or the air box. The wire running to the sensor can be disconnected then the sensor can be unscrewed and replaced. Some aftermarket companies trick this sensor with a resistor (false temp reading) to make the engine run richer. If a engine has been tuned lean this trickery can show mild power gains.
it's on the intake manifold.
The temperature gauge sensor on the 2002 F150 is located on the driver's side of the vehicle and under the intake. This is almost impossible to remove without removing the intake itself.
The sensor is in the intake manifold (MFI engines) or air cleaner/tube (SFI engines).
In the ducting before the throtle body.
It is located on the intake manifold next to the fuel rail.
It will be located on the air intake tube after the air filter and before the mass air flow sensor.
The temperature sensor is located in the lower intake manifold. The air temperature sensor is located on the right hand side of the engine well against the wall just behind the battery.
Temperature Gauge Sending Unit The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
The 1999 F150 4.2 does not have a temperature sensor. It uses a cylinder head temperature sensor instead. It is mounted at the rear of the engine on the head.
Are you refering to the Temperature Gauge Sending Unit. If so; The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
Temperature Gauge Sending Unit The sending unit is located in the front section of the intake manifold in the vicinity of the thermostat.
The coolant temperature sensor on a 1989 Ford I6 4.9L engine is located on top of the engine, in the intake manifold. It notifies the engine when to turn on the cooling fan.
