That would be the OVERDRIVE selector switch.
It is screwed on. Turn it counterclockwise. If it is an automatic there is a little horseshoe clip in the front of the shifter just pop it out and the shifter knob will pop off.
It means you turned it off, usually a little button on the end of the shifter.
The little red button on the driver side is for overdrive.
If the vehicle has a floor shifter, there should be a little button next the shifter. It is a little hole, and next to it should say "Shift Lock Release" If that is there, then it could be a good deal. You would just have to always press in that button to shift out of park though. If you can't find the button, don't buy it.
You push the little button under the T-handle on the shifter, driver's side.
directly below the button you push on the shifter to move it into gear is another little button that operates the o/d light.
If your vehicle has an automatic transmission, look on the shifter for a little button. If you find one somewhere, that button is for Overdrive(O/D). If you feel more of an engine brake, or notice that the car bogs down when you release the gas pedal, then that is what is happening. look for a button... if you find it, depress it. I hope I was of some help. Good luck. Added: There is a button on the driver side of the Gear Shifter (near the top). Gear shifter is the lever thatyou use to shift from P(ark) to N(eutral) to D(rive) etc. You can press the button On/Off. This shows up on the dashboard.
If its a automatic,I had the same problem, take a small flat head screwdriver. And in the front of the shifter, facing towards the stereo is a little slit in the shifter and you will see a tiny U-shaped pin. put the screw driver between the pin an shifter an pop it out towards your deck and then pull the shifter up and off.
The power button is a form of overdrive. It drops the transmission one gear down. Handy for passing or entering the freeway when you need a little more power and acceleration.
Sorry no, the 87 is a mk3 and the 85 an mk2 very little is the same if any.
The Sport button on the shifter for the 1991 Honda Accord is to change the motor so that it will have a little more power. The RPMs should go up by about 500 RPMs.
There is a little plastic ring at the end of the shifter, unless it has already fallen off, as they like to do. Pop off the ring and grab the button with a pair of pliers and pull it straight out. It is simply plugged in.
