What ethical issues might happen in the workplace?

There are literally thousands of issues which will come up in any job which are categorized (or can be) as Business Ethics. Each facet of business has a cascade of implications which range from nominal to severe. For instance:

Finance:

• Comping a gas receipt for the gas you used to go from the office to the restaraunt you ate dinner at after work.
• Comping a gas receipt for the gas you used to go from the office to the strip club after work.
• Filling up your personal car with a company gas card when you have a company car.
• Pushing this month's fuel expenditure into a hold until next month's report to ensure we meet this month's fuel goal.
• Reporting false fuel costs to shareholders on an expense report for the fiscal year in order to "raise dividends" on a failing quarter.

Production:

• Goofing off on the production line during a work shift when the line is behind it's quota.
• Intentionally low balling daily forecasts to ensure a lower quota minimum on the weekly report.
• Laxing on QA testing to save labor hours for the plant.
• Purchasing quality grades below Federal Requirements to ensure higher profit margin on sales.
• Laying off half a work force of experienced workers to hire in new and cheaper labor.

Sales:

• Intentionally misleading clients with "white lies" to sway their purchase decisions.
• Intentionally lying to clients to sway their purchase decisions.
• Promoting unhealthy competitiveness in your sales department and turning your back on unhealthy sales practices implimented to achieve top results.

The issues are endless, we can also get into sexual harrassment, improper language, attitudes, and substance abuse at work. There will always be a crossroads you come to when you are about to infringe on an Ethics issue. Always be sure to take the right path when it comes to the small decisions and you will usually always stay on the right path when the larger decisions float in.
