John Brown's raid on the US arsenal at Harper's Ferry was an act of sedition against the United States. His intent, as in Kansas was to use bloodshed to make his "statement". Even abolitionist Fredrick Douglas wanted no part of this raid. It was handled fairly by the courts. Brown's raid caused the death of at least two people. His slave revolt was a total failure. And, it did not have any real support among the rational people of the North.
