Martin Luther King Jr. helped the cause of the civil rights movement in America in his short career. He headed a group that sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, inspired by Rosa Park's action to not surrender her seat to a white man. Eventually, the state desegregated public transportation. Throughout his life, he lead peaceful protests, sit-ins, marches, and delivered speeches to further promote equality in America. He was the first African-American to be "Time" magazine's "Man of the Year" and he won the Nobel Peace Prize, honors that are deemed to people who have certainly made an impact. He became famous especially with his march on Washington, and "I Have a Dream" speech. Tragically, he was assassinated in 1968.
