In our joints our hinge joints are located between two bone our hinge joint is our elbow.
There are two hip joints
This permits movement in two planes, allowing flexion, extension, adduction, abduction, and circumduction. Examples are: the wrist-joint, metacarpophalangeal joints ( metacarpal bones and the phalanges) and metatarsophalangeal joints (joints between the metatarsal bones of the foot and the proximal phalanges of the toes). Sports: Baseball, tennis, soccer, horseback riding and anything that uses the hands and feet.
All exercise is good for achy joints, provided its regimented and not too intense. Isometric exercise is particularly good if one is wanting to employ a strength exercise.
The drive train uses universal joints and a clutch.
Joints require exercise to stay healthy, if you don't attempt any exercise, during a long period of time, this may cause the arthritic joint to stiffen, and the adjoining tissue to atrophy... hope this helped. katie g from worcs

Exercise will not reduce your chance of getting arthritis. You either have it or you don't. However exercise and strong muscles will reduce stress on the joints affected by arthritis and as a result alleviate the pain that so often comes with it.
Regular exercise if carried out sensibly can have a positive effect on the joints as it can help to strengthen them. It is important to warm up and cool down before exercising to prevent injury.
It is a great exercise because it is not as stressful to the joints as some. It is a great exercise for a beginner.
