Any non-acidic, mild foods would be better tolerated. But you do of course need a certain amount of Vitamin C in your diet, so it would be helpful to consult your physician about your dietary needs.

Is it normal to have diarrhea after having lettuce or a salad?

It is normal if veggies are not a part of your diet regularly, or if the salad is bad. Some salads from restaurants are not always that fresh and can cause gastrointestinal problems. The more salad you eat, this should get better.

What will happen to my baby as I'm pregnant with Spina Bifida?

You may have to have a C-section. Spina Bifida is known to have several different causes, including the possibility of being genetic. So there is a slight chance that your child may have Spina Bifida also. But these days there are much better treatments available, such as earlier surgeries and shunting for hydrocephalus. They have a much better chance of walking now because of the earlier surgeries. For a mother with Spina Bifida, there may be some back pain issues and you will certainly have to discuss it with your ob-gyn, they may want you to be in bed for the last few months of your pregnancy.

Does Spina Bifida go away?

Yes. It will require surgery at 1 to 2 days old to close the opening in the spine, then possibly a shunt, which is a tube to drain water off of the brain (hydrocephalus) and then during the rest of the childhood, orthopedic surgeries to straighten the legs and maximize their function, as well as possibly bladder surgery to fix any bladder control problem. The child may never walk or be able to control the function of the bowels and bladder, or they may, depending on the level of the paralysis.
