An old compaq laptop with XP is only considered obsolete because Microsoft has stopped issuing updates for it. Without the updates, the machine has a greater risk for virus and other malware infection. That is why companies that have successfully run production applications on the XP platform for years were forced to upgrade to a newer system (and newer hardware). Applications and games that run on the machine should continue to run as long as nothing else changes.
You can breath new life into an older computer by installing a suitable Linux distribution. It is free, comes with an Office suite that is compatible with Microsoft Office as well as many other applications and games. Linux versions are designed to make use of the latest hardware capabilities but certain version are ideal for use on an older computer. One such release is Linux Mint 13 (named Maya) with the Xfce Desktop interface. It is available in both 32bit and 64bit versions and is easy to install and use, even for windows users.
there is better that laptop has became so old now you can get hp pavalion pv6 it's awsome
The most likely reason is that your laptop does not meet the system requirements for Windows XP.
I recommend a Dell laptop. I would say either a vostro or a inspiron. I would recommend inspiron though not too expensive, speedy, looks good, and has good speifications and is also a home laptop. You can also get it with Windows 7 on it too.
Star Wars: The Old Republic will run on a Windows 7 laptop, if the laptop meets the other minimum system requirements for playing the game. The minimum system requirements are linked below.
Normally you slot in the DVD and it plays automatically via Windows media player or some other DVD software. If it doesn't then you are missing something. Either. The computer is too old and hasn't got a compatible optical unit. Or your software is missing a player or codecs for media player.
It does - at least it does on my Toshiba laptop. I have an old laptop drive that I now use as an external back-up drive. Windows 7 recognises it as soon as I plug it into a USB port.
look at the tag on your old power adapter it will tell you voltage output example 14.2 volts out dc and then match the ampere rating ex 1.4 ampere/hr if they match your good replacement ok but make sure plug is tight, loose connection can cause pc problems
Depends on it's processor speed, graphics card, and processor type as well.
Likely this is some kind of hardware error but what very much depends on your brand and type of laptop. Check with the manual and the hardware manufacture of the device such as Dell or HP for example. Hope this helps!
I would say just about $20.00. They're worthless now.
Refurbishing a window 7 laptop should take long and should be easy. All you would have to do is go into the settings and have everything restored to the old settings.
You can run minecraft on any laptop thats new nowadays, for $300 you can definately get a laptop that runs minecraft.
